2013 Courses
PHA Leadership
Dates held: June 11-13; October 22-24 | Location: Houston, Texas
This course is designed to provide students with guidelines for facilitating PHA studies. Students will learn technical and managerial procedures. Additionally, students will form study teams and will take turns leading the PHA facilitation. The instructor will supervise the workshop and will provide feedback to each student. Relief Systems Design
Dates held: June 25-26; Sept. 17-18 | Location: Houston, Texas
This course is designed to provide an overview of pressure relief system design and requirements. Pressure vessels and other equipment require relief devices to provide overpressure protection to prevent conditions that may cause serious injuries to personnel, costly mechanical damage and environmental releases. The course provides you with specific detailed guidelines for evaluating a relief system, including determining applicability of overpressure scenarios, required relief rates, and relief device capacity. The key principles from this course provide practical knowledge of the relief system requirements of PSM. A background in engineering and experience in process safety is helpful. Read more.

Register for classes by filling out the forms on the course pages above. Registration is confirmed once full payment is received. Tuition is due prior to the course dates. For tuition rates, please visit course pages above. Tuition covers registration fee, training manuals, and computer use (if applicable).
Terms and Conditions
Payment is due prior to course dates and registration is confirmed only upon receipt of payment. If registered attendee cancels a month or more prior to class date, credit is given. Credit can be used towards another class date. No credit is given if attendee cancels within 2 or less weeks from course date. Tuition covers training manuals, registration fee, and computer use for the course dates if applicable. If class does not meet minimum course size, Smith & Burgess reserves the right to cancel the class. Notice will be given to registered attendees.
